The Career Athlete: What It Takes to Manage Your Career

By Cecile Peterkin Managing your career, just like managing your life, requires preparation and ensuring that your time is directed meaningfully. Don't wait and see; make things happen. Just like athletes who prepare for the "big game or a marathon, designing your career requires goals, planning, work, and above all, commitment. Think of yourself as a Career Athlete. Being a Career Athlete requires awareness and action. Athletes are aware of their gifts, talents and abilities. They then focus their training on sharpening these skills with the goal of being the best they can be in their chosen area of expertise. Designing your career is no different. What are your gifts? What do you care about more than anything else? What work would allow you to connect to this purpose? This part of the process requires that you are honest with yourself. Once you have answered these questions you need to focus your attention on the "training". What steps do you need to take in order to design a career that honors your abilities? What is in your way that you need to overcome, as you strive for this goal? Remember that fear is a natural and inevitable part of this process, but that it does not have to stop you. Identifying what keeps you from pursuing the career that you want is an important step. Knowing what may become a stumbling block allows you to move through it much easier when it occurs, rather than being stopped by it. An Elite Athlete has a four phase training program which can be incorporated in the Career Athlete plan. Phase I: Preparation. This phase is crucial in providing you with a firm base. What skills/strengths are fundamental to your success? Phase II: Pre-competitive. What is the motivation behind what you want to do? Have you connected it to your value system? Phase III: Competitive Peaking. The point at which everything you have been working toward comes together. Phase IV: Active Rest. This is the phase of transition. A time when you are under no pressure. Use this time to have fun and celebrate the completion of phases I - III. This is also a good time for self-reflection, self-evaluation and future goal setting. Shape your career, don't let it shape you! Decide what you want and create your opportunities accordingly. Positioning yourself in your career will happen one step at a time with planning. Natural Skin Care - What About It?

By Joan Braunberger Consumers are turning to wholesome and therapeutic elements found in Mother Nature for skin care therapies and beauty treatments. There is an awareness of the potentially harmful effects associated with the long term use of synthetic chemicals found in many formulas. To name a few - 1,4-dioxane, a cancer causing contaminant found in cosmetic products; silicone emollients which coat the skin and trap anything beneath it - not allowing the skin to breathe; formaldehyde, cancer-causing vapor that can cause allergies, irritations to eyes, nose and throat, headaches and chronic fatigue. Few people realize that skin is a dynamic tissue. Up to 60% of the skin products that we apply are absorbed into our bloodstream! Cosmetics, lotions and creams are an important part of life but we need to be aware of the damage chemicals have on our system. The only way to correct this is to find something less harmful. Natural and organic herbal skin care is the answer - grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and genetically engineered seeds. Vitamins
In the last few years many manufacturers have begun to add vitamins and antioxidants to their formulas. Look for vitamin A to assist in preventing roughness and dryness. C and E are the simplest forms of antioxidants and will help in the prevention of sun damage and in fighting premature wrinkles. There is some evidence that vitamin C may pass through the skins top layer and heal tissue that has been damaged by a burn or an injury. A study recently showed that applying topical Vitamin C, 15 to 30 minutes after UV exposure, sunburn cells decreased and repair to the damage had begun. The one problem of this vitamin is that it is unstable when left open to the air. Research is continuing to optimize this but one consistent way is to use an anhydrous (no water) base cream. Vitamin D interacts with sunlight to form in our bodies and is considered an antioxidant and an anticarcinogen. Although it can be toxic in large amounts, sunbathing wont result in an overdose. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a soothing plant and the base of many natural cleansing formulas, offering exfoliation, moisturizing and protection. This miracle plant dates back to the time of Cleopatra but was lost for years. It was rediscovered during the Second World War when it was used for treating burn victims. It is now used as an ingredient that will help with antiaging, in the healing of wounds and sun damaged tissue. Apply aloe gel several times a day and watch the redness of a sunburn disappear without peeling. Topical use of a cream containing 0.5 percent aloe vera extract three times a day for four weeks shows a high cure rate of lesions in psoriasis patients. Further research suggests that this plant may have a mild analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect with no known adverse reactions. The problem of eczema can be addressed with specific ingredients such as aloe vera which provides soothing, cleansing and healing. A great idea in using natural formulas is to do-it-yourself. To prepare an aloe vera home recipe, take the slippery part from inside the plant, puree in a blender and keep refrigerated. Apply a coat of the gel for 5 minutes and rinse. Over time watch for spots, acne and scars to disappear. Jojoba Oil
Plant and animal species around the world were being identified and quickly outlawed for hunting and harvesting. The use of products derived from these sources was banned. The endangered sperm whale produced waxes that were greatly valued for their function in cosmetics. During the 60s and 70s a liquid wax (jojoba oil) found in the deserts of California, Arizona and Mexico was discovered by scientists. It not only replaced the prohibited wax from the sperm whale but appeared to actually be superior. This jojoba oil is an excellent moisturizing agent and has spreading and lubricating properties. It leaves a rich non-oily velvety feel and enhances flexibility and suppleness. Studies done at the University of Michigan demonstrated that it is quickly absorbed. Because of this, pores and hair follicles remain open maintaining their proper functioning ability. Applied directly and as often as required it is known to reduce wrinkles and bring relief to sensitive skin. The desert peoples of Southern California and Mexico had long been using it to treat rashes and cuts because of anti-bacterial qualities. Many companies and name brands are introducing their all natural skin care lines and in many cases, samples are available to try out their product. But you, the consumer, needs to realize that any product, natural or chemical based may have side effects. It is most important to read and study the information on your product of interest, know your skin type and what effect you want to achieve. With so many choices in skin care and beauty products, it becomes confusing as to what is the best value for the money. No one has all the answers. But I do have the time to check out and make myself knowledgeble about what is out there. Many consumers are busy with other things and may not have the time to do the research. I attempt on my sites to give them some answers, or at least point them in the direction that will give them some answers. Have You Tried A Speed Dating Party

By Jason King If youve done the bar and club scene, and tried online dating with no results then attending a speed dating party could give your love life the jump start it needs. Does a night out to a classy venue with the opportunity to have up to twenty dates sound appealing? You will find speed dating events being held in major cities all over America and Canada. The popularity has now grown so much speed dating has now crossed the Atlantic, and established itself in the United Kingdom. These events are not just a group of singles meeting at the same Bar or club. They are professionally run events by companies that know how to match singles together. Youre welcomed as soon as you walk through the door usually with a complimentary drink that immediately sets the tone for the evening. You will be given a score card as well upon arrival so you can mark off the singles you would like to meet again. Before going to the party its a good idea to have your questions ready in your mind. Speed dating is very quick-fire as you want to know as much as possible after your three minutes is up. Once everyone is at the speed dating party it will begin with everyone paired off at the tables. Depending on which event organisers you go with the dates will last anything from three minutes to eight minutes. Some singles will prefer the shorter dates so they dont spend too long dating someone they wouldnt want to see again. Once the first date is over its the gentlemen that get up and move along one table. This is then the pattern until everyone ends up where they started. Once everyone has marked off their scorecards they are then handed in. The organisers then put all the information onto their web site so you can login to your account the next day and see who wants to see you again. They will only let you know about the singles that you wanted to see again as well. If you have more than one match you will then have to decide which single you would rather see again. Speed dating isnt for the shy type or those cant handle situations under pressure. You dont want to be lost for words as youre being asked questions. You need to be confident, and have answers come in to your mind very quickly. If youre the type of single who enjoys meeting people, and conversation then this is definitely for you. Its a fun night out with the added bonus of starting a relationship. Meet some eligible singles, and have a few drinks. What more could you ask for? Get into Top Colleges Without Stress

By Mimi Doe If youre worried about your child getting into college you arent alone. It takes real savvy and knowledge in today's over the top, competitive admissions process, thats for sure. But, it also takes a balanced and healthy approach to the process. It is possible to understand this new admissions terrain without losing your mind. Best-selling authors Mimi Doe (parenting guru) and Michele Hernandez (college consultant extraordinaire) have come to the rescue with a collection of tips and strategies for anxious parents and their frazzled teens. Follow their advice, take a deep breath, and Dont Worry, Youll Get In! Top 10 Tips for Getting Into College Without Losing Your Mind 1. Create a printed list of all the schools to which you are applying. Give it to your guidance counselor so that he/she is sure to send the official school report to every college on your list. Your application is incomplete without the schools documents even if your send in your part. 2. Keep in mind that there is a college for everyone. Sure, the Ivy Leagues are extremely tough to get into, but the truth is, once you get past the top 20 most competitive colleges most schools admit the majority of applicants. 3. Studies have shown that applying early decision increases your odds for acceptance dramatically. So, get going. Spend time the summer before your senior year discerning your clear first choice college, than prepare your application. 4. Keep it to yourself. Dont enter into the frenzy of talk about colleges. This is your personal journey to finding the right college and getting crazy about everyone elses opinions will only bring you down. 5. Identify the teacher who is your strongest supporter, and then do everything you can to stand out in his or her class. This is who youll go to fist for that ever important recommendation. 6. Learn the fine art of saying no to activities that take you off course. Focus on a few things that you love and become really good at them rather than frantically trying to do everything. 7. Set up a specific schedule during the year to study for any upcoming standardized test: For instance, Wednesday evenings from 9-10:00. 8. Make time to relax! High school shouldnt be all SAT prep, hours of community service, and three different tutors in the name of getting in. Get a life and youll be much happier. 9. Let your academic passions guide your class choices. No college likes a cookie cutter applicant who follows the prescribed path and nothing else. The most interesting candidates follow their own interests and it shows. 10. Dont believe all you read the best way to find out about a particular school is to visit in person, speak to students, observe a class and meet professors. Otherwise, youre just responding to slick marketing rather than actual traits of a college. Head over to http://www.DontWorryGetIn.com and use some of our free tips and tools for college admissions. How to Psyche Yourself Up Before Going to Nightclubs

By Don Diebel Psyching yourself up and making preparations before going to a nightclub are very important. Be sure and get a good nights sleep before you go out. At least seven to eight hours will be sufficient. Eat a good steak dinner with your choice of vegetables prior to going out. This will put a lining on your stomach if you do a lot of heavy drinking and besides that, it will make you feel good. If you don't have any good dancing records, buy as many as you can afford. There is a reason for this. A couple of hours before you leave, play your favorite records, or if you have a favorite radio station, turn that on. The purpose of this is to get you in the mood for dancing and the nightclub scene. If you drink, while you are relaxing and listening to the music, drink some of your favorite wine or mixed drinks. Also, taking a hot bath is very relaxing. It's a lot cheaper to drink at home than it is at the clubs. So try to do most of your drinking at home if you want to save some money. While you are relaxing, picture in your minds eye, meeting some hot and sexy lady at the nightclub. Actually see yourself talking to her, dancing with her, feeling your body rub against her during a slow song, etc. Feel her body next to yours, feel her crotch grinding against yours. See you leaving the nightclub and taking her to your place or going to her place or just leaving to get a bite to eat. You are probably wondering what's the purpose of creating all these images in your mind. These images will register in your subconscious mind and when you get to the nightclub your subconscious mind will give directions to your conscious mind to act them out. Don't be disappointed if this does not work the first time because it takes repetition for this to soak into your subconscious mind. Also, all day long on the day you're going out, keep telling yourself over and over, "I'm going to meet a special lady tonight." You will be amazed at the results. This will also help you develop a positive mental attitude and build up your self-confidence. About thirty minutes before you leave, practice dancing in front of the mirror and looking as sexy as you can. Develop that "I'm crazy about you look" in your eyes. Also, practice smiling in front of the mirror. I'm talking about a nice warm friendly smile, not a phony smile showing all of your teeth. If you have a cute and sexy smile, use it on women. If you don't have a nice smile, you had better invent one. A good smile can literally melt a woman. This makes them feel really special and appreciated. So, practice that sexy smile of yours because it's going to do wonders for you when you approach those women in nightclubs. Before you know it, you will be picking up women with just your sexy smile alone. When approaching a woman, always turn on that smile of yours. If you approach her with a real serious and nervous look on your face, you just might scare her. Just a warm, friendly, and relaxed smile will do wonders. Trade Show Booth Graphics

By Andy Keeler The type of graphic you end up with will most likely depend on the type of trade show display you purchase. If you own a popup display, your graphics will be produced as mural strips (more information is provided below). If you own a modular exhibit with many customizable features, your graphic will most likely be produced as dye-sub fabric (more information is provided below). The graphics you purchase should always be the centerpiece of your display. No matter how technologically advanced or durable your booth is, if the graphics are poorly conceived and poorly designed, your trade show exhibit will probably be a flop at your next show. Well designed booth graphics can turn a mediocre display into a big hit. Mural Strips Mural Strips are the cornerstone of any popup display you purchase. These graphics are large, laminated graphic strips that are usually aligned in sequence to form an even larger graphic backwall. They are attached to your popup exhibit with magnets, and they hang from the frame of the display by a hard, plastic material. Dye-Sub Graphics Dye-Sub graphics are the most popular choice for the exhibitor who is looking for fabric graphics. Most dye-sub graphics are washable, and extremely durable. The fabric is usually placed under tension to make it appear tight and flat. Your dye-sub fabric graphic has little memory, so it will not easily wrinkle (unless you ball it up to store it). Any small wrinkles that form will disappear when the fabric is stretched tight against the display. At Tradeshowdirect, we specialize in providing high-quality trade show displays and booths to our customers across North America. Check out our trade show articles for more information about trade shows and displays. Ionithermie Detox Treatment

By Renee Billancourt Ionithermie Detox An effective anti-cellulite procedure The Ionithermie detox treatment originates from France where it has been used to impact cellulite, improve muscle tone, and increase skin elasticity. Ionithermie has enjoyed popularity in European Spas and cruises due to its often immediate results. Ionithermie detox treatment works at the cellular level combating the hardened toxins that are contained in cellulite. These toxins are said to lead to problematic skin conditions in areas where cellulite tends to accumulate. In Ionithermie cellulite reduction, treatment is tailored to impact the accumulated toxins at a much deeper level than comparable treatments. Length and details of the Ionithermie detox procedure Ionithermie works by using organic compounds combined with two kinds of stimulation. The organic compounds consist of Micronized Algae, Guarana, RNA, ivy, and a Thermal-Aroma Clay that contains conductive properties. Micronized Algae is known for its ability to detoxify while improving metabolic function. Like many sea-based ingredients Micronized Algae is rich in minerals which are factors in its application in Ionithermie. RNA (ribonucleic acid) enables the outer epidermal layers of the skin to renew and re-hydrate. The conductive and Thermal properties of the Aromatic Clay are the key ingredient that ties in the organic and stimulation components of Ionithermie. Its ability to maintain heat and transmit electrical stimulation results in the increased effectiveness of Ionithermie when compared to other treatments. The stimulant components consist of Galvanic and Faradic stimulation via specialized equipment. The Galvanic component uses positive and negative ions to propel the organic compounds in the skins area of treatment. This results in a treatment that is more effective in achieving the desired outcomes. The Faradic component is one that has been employed by chiropractors and therapists to stimulate and restore both muscles and tissue. Its use in Ionithermie follows similar goals and is also desired for its ability to achieve spot slimming on the body. The Les Complexes Biotechniques company of France has developed the compounds and technology that is most often used in the Ionithermie treatment. Most establishments that offer this treatment will perform it on Les Complexes Biotechniques equipment. Those concerned with pain will be delighted to know that stimulating current from the Ionithermie treatment device has been described as relaxing. The average Ionithermie sessions lasts approximately 30 minutes. Potential Ionithermie detox side effects Potential side effects typically comprise of such things as skin irritation and redness, which is most often seen in patients with sensitive skin. It is also recommended that patients with metal plates or pins avoid treatment in the areas in which these objects are located. Long-term results of Ionithermie detox treatments Many patients see results after the first Ionithermie treatment. Patients are encouraged to undergo multiple treatments in order to make a significant impact on cellulite. (5-13 treatments are recommended) Patients also have the option of a follow-up Home Therapy that extends the effectiveness of the treatment. Ionithermie cost Ionithermie treatment costs between $130 and $170 per session. As with any procedure your geographical area may determine the overall costs. Ionithermie treatment in Houston will typically cost less than Ionithermie treatment in Los Angeles Will my insurance cover Ionithermie treatment? Because Ionithermie treatment is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the operation. Read more about Ionithermie Detox Treatment. Sunless Tanning

By Andy Newman After concern with UVA and UVB rays, it is no wonder that people are looking for other ways to achieve a golden glow without having to sit under the sun or use sun beds. These days, you can find many products out on the market such as tanning pills, self tanners and bronzers. It is universally acknowledged that having a tan applied professionally takes a lot of strain and panic out of the situation as opposed to doing it yourself at home!!

Skin is made up of two main layers: The epidermis on the outside and the dermis on the inside. The epidermis is where the tanning effect takes place.

The most effective products available are self tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient.

DHA works with the bacteria and amino acids on the surface of the skin (skin chemistry is unique and therefore different results occur from person to person and even area to area.)

DHA is a colourless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the epidermis. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a colour changes and this colour change usually lasts about five to seven days from the initial application.

This is why it is crucial to exfoliate your entire body before applying any type of self tan (even when you are having it applied professionally). Tan cannot last or be applied as effectively if there is dead skin still present on the surface. Applying body lotion all over your body prior to a tan actually creates a barrier and therefore leads to perhaps an uneven application as well as possibly making it look streaky. Body moisturizer should only be applied to real dry areas such as elbows, knees and feet, in between the toes and fingers.

If you need to wax or shave your legs, it should be done before the application of the tan as doing any type of hair removal after applying a tan will actually strip it off. Waxing and shaving are forms of exfoliation and thus removes the tan.

Having deodorant on could result in green armpits!! As deodorants actually stop the product going through and penetrating.

DHA has been listed with the food and drug administration (FDA) since 1973 and has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years.

If you want to maintain your tan then repeat sessions are required as DHA works best when it is layered i.e. applied a few times after your first treatment as it continues to work.

REMEMBER: Sunless tans offer no protection whatsoever against the sun and the damage it may cause your skin so ensure that if you are out and about you still apply SPF, which you should be doing anyway!

Mediterranean Diet Web Sites

By Kevin Stith Recent research in nutrition highlights the importance and popularity of a Mediterranean diet. It is a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, grains, monounsaturated fats and various complex carbohydrates but low in cholesterol and harmful saturated fats. The Mediterranean diet websites provide ample information on the importance of a diet rich in monounsaturated fats. The websites focus on the undeniable positive health profiles of the Mediterranean people who consume more than 30 percent calories from lipids obtained primarily from plant oils and principally from olive oil. Mediterranean diet Web sites clarify the concept that fat and carbohydrates are not responsible for causing obesity and heart diseases. They highlight the importance of including the right amount and correct forms of fats and carbohydrates in our diet. These websites mainly bring to light the importance of using olive oil as a cooking medium. Many researchers have found olive oil, known to be mono-unsaturated, perfect for the health conscious in society. Mono-unsaturated fats help to lower cholesterol rather than raise it, and are healthy options to fats in the diet. The Web sites try to debunk the common perception among people that all types of fats are bad for the human body. Mediterranean diet Web sites provide information on different forums and focus on the undeniable positive health profiles of Mediterranean people who consume most of their calories from lipids, primarily plant oils and principally olive oil. They resist the prevailing dietary guidance policies that discourage the intake of fat. They enlighten people about the type of fats that are essential by differentiating between plant oils and animal fats. These forums also distinguish between unsaturated fats and saturated fats, and brief about their different metabolic characteristics. The websites lay importance of a Mediterranean diet along with physical activities that help the body lose weight, and maintain the acquired weight. A Wood Deck May Cause You More Problems than a Paved Deck

By Peter J. Mason When building a deck to enhance your outdoor space, the traditional choice is to use wood. However there are certain advantages to using paving stones, or pavers, that you might not have previously considered. The actual building work will be easier and cheaper with pavers than with wood. Even with the simplest designs you must be prepared to pay for wrong cuts and other mishaps when using wood. Pavers are simpler to use as well as being less expensive. Building permits and construction regulations tend to be very specific when dealing with wooden decks. Make sure you fully investigate the rules in your area before spending a lot on your deck. If you are reported for violating the rules, not only will you be fined but you will have to take down your construction. These requirements often include size of deck, type of wood and even color. You will need to make sure you are not encroaching on your neighbors land or blocking the light to their garden. You also need to be certain that you arent blocking utility access points. Decks constructed from pavers are subject to much less stringent building regulations and fit easily into most building codes. They also do not have the same risks of rot in standing water and water infiltration. Make sure your plants and flowers will be shown to their best advantage with your new deck. Re-landscaping your yard to fit in with the new wooden deck can cost more than the deck itself. Pavers, on the other hand, can be sheared to fit in with your existing yard arrangements. Make sure your deck has plenty of space. If the deck gives the feeling of being cramped it wont be used to its full potential. Most people love to barbeque outside in the summer and you want to be sure an outdoor kitchen will sit safely on your deck. This is more achievable with a spacious paved patio than a cramped wood deck. Once built, a wooden deck is stationary and usually attached to the property. With pavers you have more flexibility to move your patio if you are changing the look of your garden. Also if you are renting your property your landlord may be loathe to allow the building of a wooden deck, whilst they may be happy with pavers that can easily be removed. Being specifically interested in home improvement and remodeling, Peter J. Mason is publishing numerous articles on this particular subject. His writings on kitchen cabinets can be found on http://www.kitchen-cabinets-tips.com/ and also other online sites. Coin Values

By Michael Malega Many aspects have been covered in this article so that you can bring in from an wide research. Coins are for the most part gathered by diverse individuals because they look good. There are other mint collectors who accumulate these coins because there is some economic value that they can get from the coins. There are certain coin values that are located on the coins before these coins can be bought or sold by mint collectors and coin dealers. The coin values are based for the most part on the diverse strike grading systems that are currently used. These coin values must be looked at cautiously before any cost is fixed for the coins. The best way to control that you are acquiring a good deal is to therefore have enough info about coins and strike collecting known. In addition if you can read books that deal with strike scaling and coin values you will have a pretty good idea of what traits and marks are looked at by strike dealers before they purchase any coins from you.Once you have understood the versatile info that you have found you should take your strike collection to a coin shop and ask for a strike appraisal. These mint appraisals are an highly good way of finding the coin values for the versatile coins in your mint collection. Since strike appraisals are based on the knowledge that is known by the value you will need to have several coin appraisals carried out.Of course you should translate that the coin values are based on the tangible condition of the coins. For this ground if you get any coins that seem to be polluted or in poor condition then you should not attempt to clean them. This is because the cleansing process can cause damage to the coins. As an alternative you will need to take them in their as-is state and let the pro numismatist see what the phentermine 37.5 without a prescription

An Introduction To Payday Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ross_Bainbridge]Ross Bainbridge A payday loan is a temporarily loan that is paid back out of your next paycheck. The term payday loan is also referred to as a payday advance, paycheck advance, paycheck loan, deferred deposit, cash advance, short-term personal loan and signature loan. To obtain a payday loan one can either fill out an application form, or a representative of the company will fill out the form through the telephone. After filling out the form, one has to send the company a bank statement and a voided check. The bank statement is then verified and the loan is sanctioned on the basis of the amounts that are deposited every month into ones account. If the loan request is approved, the funds will be deposited overnight so that one can obtain the loan the next banking day. The loan should be repaid in the same way. One notifies the company when one will next be paid, so that the loan amount can be deducted from ones account. In case one finds it difficult to pay back the loan on the due date, one can always ask for an extension, but on the first three extensions a minimum charge is levied. Further extensions require additional payments. The percentage of the additional charges varies for each loan amount. Such charges are levied so that one would pay back the loan without many extensions. These companies help in getting people cash when they need it the most. These companies offer convenient and flexible payment schedules, and also extensions and early loan sanctions, to fit any budget. If one applies for a $100 loan the term of the loan would be 714 days and the finance charge in this case would be $18.62, so one would be paying back a total of $118.62. For a loan amount of $500 for the term of 714 days the finance charge would be $93.10 and the loan to be paid back is $593.10. For a $1,000 loan the finance charge for 714 days would be $186.20 and the loan amount to be paid back is $1,186.20. If one has paid a previous loan back, he or she is eligible to apply for additional loans. Payday loans are not sanctioned to people with bankruptcies, but if there were bankruptcies in the past and there is money in the account now it would not be a problem. To qualify for a payday loan one needs to have a job, make a minimum monthly salary of $1,200, be a US citizen of 18 years and older and an active bank account. Toxic Chemicals - What Are We Doing To Our Kids?

By Jean Shaw I was born in the late fifties. In those days it was safe to leave your doors unlocked, leave your bike unattended, play out in the street and talk and accept lifts from strangers. It was also a time of RESPECT especially towards parents and anyone older. If we were told to come in at a certain time, we did so. If we were playing ball and it accidentally went into someone's garden, we went to the door, apologised and politely requested its return. If the owner refused we may have felt upset but accepted it. After all, the ball shouldn't have been on their property in the first place. If the owner wasn't in we would NEVER dream of just going into someone's garden without their permission. However, it may well have meant the end of the game for in those days people had just one ball. There was none of this "Oh never mind, we'll just get another". If your ball got lost , that was it. Whether it be cricket, football, rounders or tennis - the ball had to be found. We searched in the dykes, the long grass and the corn fields ever wary and conscious that we were sometimes trespassing and hoping we'd be out before the farmer came. Today, however, the story is much different. We live in a throw away society and values appear to have changed. Infact, whole life styles have changed and not always for the better. My friend has lived in the same house for almost thirty years. It is a nice two bedroomed semi in a cul-de-sac on a pleasant fairly affluent estate. The area is not run down and close to her property within view is a large park area ideal for children to play. However, they don't. Instead the children living in the cul-de-sac, together with their friends who live elsewhere, play in the road. They run in and out of the numerous cars parked outside and across the open plan gardens of the fourteen houses found there. This is the problem. My friend who is very kind, friendly and loves children understandably got a bit fed up having children (some of whom she didn't even know) continually go into her garden, trample her plants and knock over her ornaments without even asking to retrieve their balls. She asked them politely to play in the field round the back. When they didn't and the situation continued she had a neighbourly word with their parents. However, instead of beng met with understanding she was accused of being a miserable spoil sport and now feels a prisoner in her own home. Since her request my friend's car has been scratched, the mirror broken twice and it's been used as a goal for football practice. The father of one set of neighbouring children had even been playing tennis with his offspring when some of these incidents occurred so you would think he would have offered some sort of apology. After all that's what responsible adults do - right? Wrong. When my friend suggested they all go down to the park area where there was plenty of room to play he simply suggested in no uncertain terms that "SHE" was being awkward and a miserable old woman who spoilt everyone's fun. Now, she gets called names whenever she leaves her house and no longer feels able to sit out in her front garden where she has spent many happy hours over the years. So what are we doing to our kids to make them so disrespectful? I read somewhere the average father spends about 10 minutes per day talking to his children. At first I didn't believe it but then I realised the long hours some people spend at work and travelling might mean they left home before their children got up and returned when they were in bed. Mothers too have often been forced to go out to work. Latch key kids, day care centres and drop off sites are the norm. Rarely do you see children playing. Instead they spend time alone in their rooms with their color televisions, videos and DVD's. They text and e-mail endlessly on their mobile phones and computers and yet cannot hold a meaningful conversation face to face. In our fast pace society there's no time to enjoy simple pleasures and quality family life has gone out of the window. Long gone are the days when families sat down together to eat freshly cooked nutritious meals containing seasonal fruits and vegetables and watched the same programme on a shared televison. They read, played games together and actually communicated. Admittedly advances in technology have made life much easier but not necessarily happier. Theoretically machinery should have given us more freedom and yet everyone rushes around unable to spare the time to simply relax. They search instead for money to buy "things" and products to make us look younger. It seems growing old gracefully is a thing of the past and we all seek eternal youth. Possessions appear more important than people and relationships and life pass most by without us ever appreciating the best things in life are free. Stress and mental health issues are a big part of modern society. Toxic chemicals are now found everywhere. We cannot escape them and even though we know they are a danger to our health, more and more are produced. According to the Environment Working Group most of the toxins which are detrimental to our health are found in our food supply. Meals are now eaten on the run, often prepacked and microwaved. Fast food is the norm. Our appetite for quick fixes far outweighs our desire for nutritionally complete food. These days unless you eat organic produce the only ingredients you can guarantee to get in your food will be a mixture of fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, preservatives, colourings, flavourings, growth hormones, anti-biotics and toxic chemicals from the packaging. They build up an unnatural cocktail inside us, unquestionably dangerous, potentially deadly. Is it any wonder we worry for our long term health. Serious illnesses such as cancer and heart disease are on the increase. Depression and suicide are rife. Crime and violence triggered by alcohol and drug abuse is common place and people are afraid to go out alone in many areas especially when darkness falls. Many children suffer challenging behaviour most of which can be attributed to their diet. How many do you know who have a change in personality after they've eaten highly coloured, sweetened or flavoured food and drink? Sweets and sugary drinks are often sufficient to trigger hyperactivity so what do we do? Instead of removing them from the diet we drug our children to calm them down. What has happened to us? We can't turn back the clock and undo the progress already made. We wouldn't want to but we can choose to reduce the toxic load which the food and personal care industries have planted on us, often without our knowledge. Did you realise the personal and skin care industry can use up to 10,500 highly unregulated synthetic chemicals in their products, none of which have ever been tested for long term health effects either individually or in combination? Do you even care? If you don't, you should. If not for yourself then for your children. After all, something is happening to them and it appears they need all the help they can get! The Healing Arts: 18 Things Healers Learn, #18; Healers Need Healers, Too

By Russ Reina Compassion comes from the Latin com (with) and pati (suffering), roughly combined as to suffer with. Another interpretation of the word, which is a bit closer to our typical understanding and usage of it, might be connecting with suffering. Suffering is part of the human condition. To connect with suffering does not mean experiencing it as the other experiences it. Just like any other feeling, what you see happening in others is run through your own filters. Everyone suffers in his or her own way. Connecting to suffering may be better understood as not separating from the experience of it. As a healer, your role is to lessen or alleviate the suffering of others. You and your peers deserve that very same kind of comfort. The mistaken impression is that healers are supposed to remain rock steady through all phases and types of the pain of others. Nowhere is this more evident than in the relationship of healer to healer. There are few systems in place that support the people who know the challenges best to work with each other. What the culture seems to support is an acceptance of building walls and barriers of separation, both in the moment with the patient, and afterwards with each other. Acceptable behavior involves all shades of avoidance, from silence to the tolerance of any number of forms of abuse. With continued exposure, and in the absence of any relief valves, these barriers become progressively impervious. Over time, less and less of anything gets in. Moment to moment, we have different emotions coursing through us, like surges of electricity: Wow, dig that. Thats funny! Are you serious? Oh-oh, thats scary! How sad. These are energies in motion (e-motion). The mechanism of handling the moment, during times of crisis is a string of choices that allows those feelings to keep moving underneath the surface, without fixating on any one of them long enough to interfere with taking the next action step. Where the trouble comes in is afterward. Each event and the waves of emotions that accompany it is subject to interpretation. Moments determined to be relatively benign are allowed to move through ones being without question. But negative emotions become the focus of an inordinate amount of energy that is expended to deny, suppress, avoid or somehow block the reverberation of their impact. From there arises a process of burying alive what was real. Nothing buried alive goes down without a fight. Compassion for self is the touchstone to which healers must continually return. That means allowing the echo of disturbing moments to be experienced rather than suppressed. Compassion (again, to suffer with) does mean to connect with ones own suffering, but this paves the way for resolution in the moment and places the experience into a broader, more useful perspective. Any form of suppression, however, takes what was an energy in motion and freezes it in place. The practical aspect of this is it takes a lot more time and energy to thaw and get to the energy tomorrow than it would have taken to move with the energy today, while it was still active. By first establishing a regular time and place for you to sit down and face your own feelings, you bring what is real into the light. Often, thats all you need. By framing what happened as something that happens -- without judgment of it or yourself you can allow yourself to let the energy of the emotions that passed move through you. You will be surprised how self-limiting they are when allowed to run their course. Face your experiences. Write about them. Draw them. Put them on tape. Rant and rave about them. Scream them. Cry them. Make them real. Then, let them go. But sometimes, the shadows are so numerous, you need whatever light is available to be reflected and magnified. Thats where others come in. Ask for help. You can make an appointment. Ask for undivided attention for 15 minutes where you can simply be witnessed. You can ask that no comments be made except at your request. To know theres a time waiting just for you is magic. Being a healer means creating a sacred space for healing to occur. Thats what you do whenever you enter a room. It is your intent that calls forth the wisdom you need to use your experience and tools properly. What healers often forget, however, is they and all the healers around them need that sacred space as much as any of their charges. By banding together and creating safe spaces to share and bring the incredible experiences that are inherent in the ebb and flow of life and death to the light, healers accelerate the recovery of each other as surely as they change the lives of others. Russ Reina shares over 35 years of experience in the healing arts through his web site http://mauihealingartist.com. It is a potent resource for those wishing to deepen their abilities in connection and develop their powers as healers. Advertising On Crowd Control Barrier Jackets Come Of Age - Wrap It Up To Promote Your Message

By Murray Bilby Introduction About 20 years ago, the steel barrier became the dominant crowd control device. Barriers increasingly became a common sight at parades, sports events, festivals, amusement parks, concerts, and conventions. Savvy companies and event management personnel soon came to the conclusion that barriers, being so noticeable (not to mention so physically close) to large crowds, might double as a marketing/communications tool, as well as a safety tool. History The first attempts to accessorize barriers involved the use of banners, which were tied to the barrier itself. However, banners were very susceptible to flapping or sagging, which detracted from the image that companies or events were trying to project. Technological advancements made it possible for vinyl jackets to be produced at the same cost, and with the same quality, as banners. In the mid-1980s, the first barrier jackets were produced. Initially, the barrier jackets were simply one solid color. The now-defunct Marineland theme park in California, and SeaWorld San Diego were among the first sites to use color jackets over their barriers. Solid blue-colored jackets not only appropriately matched the theme of these locations, but the jackets also protected the barriers by resisting the inherent moisture in these environments. Other sites soon began employing barrier covers for the aesthetic benefit of having their crowd control barricades fit into their color scheme The next step was going beyond a solid color to actually convey a message on the jacket. SeaWorld San Diego was again an early adopter, as were a number of sports facilities or teams. Many of the earliest examples of printed jackets featured a sports teams logo, the name of an events sponsor (often, in those days, beer companies), or simple directional instructions, such as an arrow and the word Parking. Todays Focus But soon, the buzz word was sophistication not only in terms of physical characteristics such as fit, color, and material, but in terms of marketing strategy. How barrier jackets would look, what they would say, and where they would be utilized, became an integral part of the marketing planning of sites, events, and sponsors. Jackets, in effect, became ground-level billboards, and again, technical advancements made it easy and cost effective to reproduce high-quality, attractive images on a jacket. When an event received television or news coverage, the barrier jackets became a highly visible means of conveying an image or message. Barrier Jacket Quality Primer Through trial and error, a consensus regarding todays standards for barrier jackets has evolved. A quality barrier jacket will be designed with professional stitching and hems. It should be custom-fit to follow the crowd control barrier profile, and fit snugly to the corners of the barrier to eliminate any potential flapping. Jackets should have a minimum of three grommets on the bottom, allowing jackets to be locked on the barrier with tie wraps; otherwise, the jacket will flap in windy conditions. Hook and loop fastener wraps are more secure than tabs or standard strips, and the ability to wrap at both end positions is critical this eliminates confusion about a right end or a wrong end when putting jackets on the barriers. With todays laser printing technology, anything that can be printed on paper can be printed on a barrier jacket. Text or logos can be placed anywhere on the jacket. If jackets are printed using the latest technology and great attention to detail, the end result should be very attractive artwork that puts forth a professional, market-focused imag Barrier Jackets Marketing Primer Perhaps most importantly, jackets can turn barriers from an expense to a revenue stream. This can happen directly companies or sponsors will pay to have their logo/message on a jacket, or indirectly the advertising/public relations exposure payoff can easily offset the cost of a jacket Jackets can even have a bottom-line impact when they are used for informational purposes. When jackets provide directions, rules, or other information, it enhances the customers experience, leading to a favorable impression and potential repeat business at your site or event Widespread Use Barrier jackets continue to grow in popularity, evidenced by high profile examples. Barrier jackets have been used by venues such as Radio City Music Hall and The Staples Center, sports franchises such as the Chicago Cubs and Washington Redskins, and major companies such as Budweiser and American Express The Future Improvements continue to be made in jacket design and printing which will only enhance clients satisfaction. Jackets which bleed beyond the traditional margins, jackets sized to flush with the ground, and reversible jackets are just a few of the recent innovations which have been introduced to customer acclaim Conclusion Jackets can add significant value to steel barriers, and add sales and public relations value to any organization which utilizes them. They are a proven attention-getting device, an aesthetically pleasing visual alternative to an un-jacketed barrier, and valuable communications tool. Murray Bilby is president of The Tamis Corporation (http://www.tamiscorp.com), parent company of Blockader Barrier Jackets (http://www.barrierjackets.com) and Blockader Barricades (http://www.blockader.com). he Effect of Depression in Women

By Hector Milla Women, regardless of nationality or socioeconomic status, have a higher chance to have depression than men. The reasons for such higher chance appear to be a combination of biological and cultural factors. Womens Hormonal Variation and Life Phase Extreme hormonal changes can trigger the reaction of emotional swings for all women. There are studies that show how the hormones can contribute in depression but the reason is not yet totally clear. Female hormones undoubtedly play a big role in premenstrual dysphoria, postpartum depression, and the SAD moment. These forms of depression draw back or stop after the menopausal stage. In early puberty a girl who reaches the age of 11 years old or younger are more prone to experience depression during adolescence than those girls that are more matured. By the time of pre-menopausal, women between the ages of 20 and 45 are most at risk to get depression. Based on the record of the study, 34% of this age group are complaining of having symptoms of major depression. Depression usually occurs around menopausal stage, it is the stage when the womens hormonal secretion changes. Usually symptoms like lack of sleep, mood swing, hypertension, and loss of appetite are experienced. Once the women pass into the postmenopausal stage, some of the studies show that the average depression scores are nearly as low as those women that are under premenopausal stage. As a matter of fact, there are women cases that shows that after they had experienced menopause, they had also suffered from depression. One of the particular causes in that case is the seasonal changes. There are other studies in United States that have reported that even grandmothers who shows care for their grandchildren and family, not considering the situation in which they work outside or at home, have a high risk for depression, other factors may be involved. Lunesta For Insomnia: A Guide To Compare Generic Lunesta ( Eszopiclone )

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ian_Mason] Ian Mason We all know that there's no such thing as cheap Lunesta, but if youd like to save money without sacrificing quality, you may want to buy Eszopiclone instead. Eszopiclone is the generic version of Lunesta, the only prescription sleep aid approved for long term use. When compared with the other prescription sleep aids, Eszopiclone is the best buy if you're looking for a way to just finally get a good night's sleep without waking up drowsy and dysfunctional. When you begin taking Eszopiclone, you'll enjoy another huge benefit: Unlike other sleep aids, Eszopiclone is the only one approved for long term use. That means you can enjoy months to years of better sleep, rather than just a few days. When looking for the sleep aid medication with the best overall value, Eszopiclone is an obvious choice. But what's the best choice when it's time to buy Eszopiclone online at an internet pharmacy? Many people just look for the lowest prices on their sleep medications, and they end up being ripped off. Some get the wrong pills, and some receive impure medication that doesn't work. But others never even get their order in the mail. In many markets, such as the car market, the saying that "you get what you pay for" doesn't really apply. But this saying is definitely true when we shop for prescription medications online. We have taken it upon ourselves to research every online pharmacy we can find, and in most cases, the news isn't good. Many end up linking back one processing company, and only some of them are legitimate. In the interest of breathing some real life into the online pharmacy industry, we have compiled our research into a "best buys" website. Preventing Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy Through Ayurveda

By Dr. Savitha Suri Definition: Benign prostatic hypertrophy is swelling of Prostate gland. The prostate is a walnut sized gland that is only present in men. It is located just below the bladder and top of the penis. This gland surrounds the urethra (the tube through which urine flows from the bladder and out through the penis). It is a very astonishing fact to know that the condition BPH has been explained in ayurveda long back. The anatomical position of prostate gland, symptoms of BPH and its remedies are explained by Acharya Sushruta. The anatomical position of prostate gland is described in ayurvedic classics as follows...
In Yogaratnakara it has been described as --
NAABHERADHASTHAATSANJAATAHA SANCHAARI YADI VAACHALAHA |
ASHTEELAAVAD GHANO GRANTHIROODHWAR MAAYATA UNNATAHA || Which means Below umbilicus (NAABHI), there is a hard gland which is little bit bulged and changes its place some times and some times stays stationary. This gland is like Ashteela (A small stone used to sharpen swords). This gland when affected by vitiated vata causes a disease called vataashteela (or benign prostate hypertrophy) Sushruta explains the structure, anatomical position of prostate gland and symptoms of BPH as follows. SHACRANMAARGASYA BASTHESHCHA VAAYURANTARAMAASHRITAHAI
ASHTEELAAVADGHANAM GRANTHIMMOORDHVAMAAYATA MUNNATAM|| Which means - the place between rectum and bladder is occupied by vitiated vata it affects the easy flow of urine, stools and semen by enlarging the gland Ashteela. The prostate gland enlarges in all men as age advances. BPH is very common and affects one third of men who are over 50. A person suffering from BPH does not have the increased risk of prostate cancer.
Functions of Prostate gland. One of the main functions of the prostate is to produce a fluid, which contribute to the liquid portion of semen and this liquid allows the sperm to move freely. The gland is divided into peripheral, transitional and central zone. The overgrowth takes place in central zone which leads to BPH.
Effects of BPH Prostate gland surrounds urethra. When prostate gland enlarges, it constricts the urethra reducing the urine flow. The emptying of bladder becomes very difficult because of this.
Causes of BPH According to present medical concepts the actual cause of prostate enlargement is unknown.
But the causes of BPH are very well explained In ayurveda which is based on tridosha theory. The causes of vataashteela or BPH are explained as follows. Causes for vataashteela according to dosha theory:
vataashteela is caused by vitiated vayu and apaana vayu ( a subcategory of Vayu) (APAANA VAYU is located in two testicles, urinary bladder, phallus, umbilicus, thighs, groins, anus and colon. Functions of apana vaayu are Ejaculation of semen, voiding of urine, stools, elimination of menstrual blood and expulsion of fetus.) The vitiation of vayu and apaana vayu is caused by 1. Controlling the urge of urinatio 2. Controlling the urge of defecation 3. Over indulgence in sex 4. Consuming dry, very cold and less quantity of food 5. Old age 6. General weakness 7. Indigestion 8. Physical and mental overexertion Symptoms of BPH Difficulty in starting to pass urine ( hesitancy ), A weak stream of urine, Dribbling after urinating The need to strain to pass urine, Incomplete emptying of bladder. Difficulty to control the urination urge. Having to get up several times in the night to pass urine, Feeling a burning sensation when passing urine. Passing urine mixed with blood (indication of infection) Symptoms of vatashteela are described as follows. VINMUTRAANILA SANGASCHA TANNAADMAANAMCHA JAAYATE|
VEDANAA CHA PARAA BASTOU VAATAASHTEELETI TAAM VIDUHU || The vitiated ashteela gland when enlarged is called as vatashteela. This enlarged gland causes 1. Obstruction to easy flow of urine. 2. Obstruction to Easy passage of stools and gas 3. Bloating of Stomach. 4. Pain in bladder. When the above mentioned symptoms are noticed then one should seek proper medical advice. Diagnosis A digital rectal examination will be performed to examine the size of prostate by inserting a finger into the rectum. A distended bladder can be felt per abdomen. Ultra sound examination will be done to determine the amount of urine left in the bladder after urination. Routine urine test will be done to rule out infections. A prostate gland tissue may be collected using a needle to check for cancerous cells. Ayurveda tips for SELF-CARE If symptoms are mild, the following methods can be tried for relief: 1. Vata gets vitiated when natural urges are controlled. Hence do not control the natural urge of passing urine. Urinate when you first get the urge. 2. Go to the bathroom even if you do not have urge. 3. Alcohol, tobacco, coffee increase vata and vitiate it. Hence avoid alcohol, tobacco and coffee, especially after dinner. 4. Vata gets normalized and vitiation comes down when body is warm. This can be accomplished with regular exercises and keeping the body warm. 5. Mental exertion leads to increase of vata. Avoid mental exertion at work place and at home. 6. Avoid foods which cause constipation as constipation causes vitiation of vata. Other general tips 1. Avoid drinking fluids from two hours before going to bed. 2. Avoid cold and cough medications that contain decongestants or antihistamines. These medications can increase BPH symptoms. 3. Avoid drinking excess amount of liquids. Distribute the intake of fluids throughout day. Prevention BPH can be prevented by - 1. Consuming low fat diet 2. Including lots of fiber in diet ( fruits and vegetables which are rich in fiber). 3. Visiting your family physician as soon as you notice any symptoms while passing urine. Apart from these many effective herbal remedies have been mentioned in Sushruta samhita and Yogaratnakara. Dr. Savitha Suri has been an Ayurvedic Practitioner since 1989. After getting a graduation degree in ayurveda (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) in 1988 from University of Mysore, India, she started practising ayurveda. Her articles about ayurveda have been published in news papers and websites. She is a regular health columnist to a regional news paper. http://www.ayurhelp.com

Don't Forget To Plan For Wedding Favors In Your Budget

By Rose Smith Wedding favors are small, inexpensive gifts or souvenirs that you present to your guests as a way of saying "thank-you for attending our wedding celebration". It has become customary to give something in return to your guests that they can keep as a memory of your special day. Favors don't have to be large or expensive. Some are elegant, some are practical and some are just plain fun. Choose a favor that reflects your wedding theme in some way. Many favor ideas can easily be interchanged with various themes just by substituting a decoration or color on the favor. Budget For The Cost of Wedding Favors When planning out your wedding budget, be sure to allot about 3% of your money toward favors. Make sure you know the approximate number of guests that will be attending your reception, then you will be better able to estimate the maximum amount of how much each favor can cost. The fewer guests that you have, the more expensive your favors can be, if you so choose. When making or buying any favors, keep in mind the color scheme of your wedding and use ribbons, tulle, flowers, etc. decorations that reflect your wedding colors. Once the favors are completed, attach personalized favor tags that have your names and wedding date printed on them. You can use paper tags or monogrammed ribbons that you either create yourself or purchase from a vendor. Some couples also add a small saying to their tags as well. Delight Your Guests With Unique and Creative Favors Wedding party favors are only limited by your imagination, so mix and match, and have fun creating your own unique bridal favors. A Rose is Not Just a Rose

By Samantha Stevens The rose is perhaps one of the most powerful symbols in the metaphysical world. It is also one of the most accessible tools that can be used for everyday magic. The gift of a rose is also one of the simplest ways to say, "I love you" without too much hocus-pocus. The thorns on its stems represent the "prick" of love and the overcoming of obstacles to achieve your desires. It is the pinnacle of metaphorical purity and symbolizes completion and perfection. The element associated with the rose is Water, so it is particularly friendly to the astrological signs of Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. Both Mercury and Venus rule this flower. A bath in rose petals or rose water (which is distilled from the buds) is said to attract love to the bathing beauty. An ancient custom is to sprinkle the bed of newly weds with rose petals to sweeten the initial carnal relations. In ancient alchemical formulas the red rose is used as a masculine principle and the rose represents the feminine or receptive principle. The combination of the two (perhaps growing the two bushes intertwined in the garden) represents harmony and unity. Rose oil, which is extracted through a rather expensive process from the petals of the flower, is also prominent in both love and healing rituals. When applied the temples the oil is said to cure a headache. When applied to the thighs or breasts it is supposed to attract a suitor. As an essential oil, the rose's essence is thought to relieve depression, PMS and postnatal depression. It is also said to cure frigidity and impotence. Bach's Herbal Remedies makes a distillation of the Wild Rose. Taking drops of this under your tongue is thought to help the patient free themselves from a rut or feelings of hopelessness and being trapped by fate. Rose water is used in cooking spells and added to curries and cake mixes to infuse the dish with good spirits and love attracting qualities. The water is also splashed on the skin (but not around the eyes) to give you a complexion as dewy as the flower. The rose historically also symbolizes the female genitalia and is associated with Cupid, Eros, Adonis, Aphrodite, Isis, Hathor, and Demeter. Rose water and rose petals are often used in magical rituals to honor these gods and goddesses. Although red roses are traditionally seen as symbols of lust, love and the flower also has a long association with such qualities as purity, compassion and divine perfection. The white rose in particular has an affinity with the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit. The color of the rose is also significant. Red roses symbolize love, sex and passion. Pink roses suggest friendship, joy, gratitude and fun. Yellow roses can symbolize enthusiasm, but according to some folklore, the yellow rose can symbolize deception or "the perfect crime." Orange roses signify enthusiasm, passion and a lust for life. White roses are symbolic of significant landmarks in life (such as death, birth and marriage), unconditional love, purity and innocence. The flower is not the only part of the rose that is used in divination and magic. To discover their romantic future, women used to take pluck three green rose leaves and name one after each of their suitors. The one that stayed green the longest was her soulmate. Rose hips can be strung like beads on a thread and worn as a necklace to attract love. Drinking rose-hip tea is thought to increase one's powers of prophecy. Ironically, for a flower that is often given as a gift, the most powerful roses are said to be those that have been stolen from another person's garden. Ten Ways to Get Ready for Your Next Interview

By Muhammad Sadiq Javed Like preparing a great meal, interviewing requires preparation. Get good ingredients and give yourself time. Prepare the food on the plate to make the meal attractive. All of these go into a great meal. Taking the time to prepare for an interview will give you a huge leg up on your completion. 1. Schedule interviews at times that work for your metabolism. Are you a morning person? Why would you accept a 6PM interview? If you are a person who functions best in the afternoon, try not to accept early morning appointments. If you are a person who needs to be conscious of their blood sugar, try to schedule your appointments at times when you are at your peak. If forced to accept one of your less ideal times, have a quick bite prior to the interview to avoid "fading." Avoid overeating. 2. Give yourself extra time to get to their offices. There are few things worse than getting to an interview late. 3. Arrive at the office building 7-10 minutes early. If it is summer, you want to wait in the lobby to cool off; no one likes shaking sweaty hands. If its winter, warm up; you don't want someone's early impressions of you formed by shaking a cold hand. Take a few minutes in the lobby to get focused on what you will say. Allow a few minutes to get through building security so that you actually arrive at your interview on time and ready to go. 4. Properly introduce yourself to everyone you meet by saying. "My name is __________ and I have a 1:30 interview with ________________." 5. If you are asked if they can hang your coat, accept the offer; if offered a beverage, accept a beverage. You don't have to drink coffee or tea. Soda, bottled water or water is fine. Thank whoever helps you. Declining the offer may be rude in some cultures. 6. Take your seat in order to face the greatest number of entry points into the room so tat you can see someone approaching you. Being startled is not a good way to start a meeting. 7. If you are given an application, complete it and complete it accurately and neatly. Do not attach your resume and write, "See attached resume." An application is a legal document and failure to complete it accurately can be grounds for termination. 8. If you are not sure about the month you started a job or your exact salary, write "approx" (for the word approximately) next to the item. If asked, indicate you are not absolutely certain of the exact month and don't wish to deceive anyone. Obviously, if you can ascertain your salary or starting date prior to interviewing, do so; for some people, the date or salary may be so far in the past to make it impossible to determine. 9. Write legibly (or as legibly as you can). This may be the twelfth application you've completed, but it is the first of yours that they've seen. In many professions, sloppiness is seen as a flaw. 10. When you hear your name announced, stand, and smile, shake the hand of your interviewer and immediately size them up as a person. Are they smart (or not). Aggressive (or not). If you were meeting this person socially, I'm sure your instincts would be right. Unfortunately, because people think interviews are important, they think they have to feel the interviewer out. Doing that is a mistake. Hard and fast impressions of you will be formed during the next ten minutes that will be difficult to change. If you tend to be right in social situations about the people you meet, trust your instincts in professional ones, too. Using these ten steps as a check list will get you started well than your competition. What you do after that is up to you. Good luck. By: Muhammad Sadiq Javed - Sameers

Dental Hygiene If I Had Known Then What I Know Now...

By Polly Priester Hello all you wonderful people out there. Have you ever thought, If I had known then what I know now. or If I had my life to live over again I would change...? Actually there is not too much I, personally would have done differently. But there is definitely one health related subject I would like to have known more about and adhered to: early childhood hygiene practices. I had problems with my teeth from the minute go. I had to have fillings, root canal work, tooth extractions. You name it, I had it. Even eating all those taffy apples and other candy (especially at Halloween) would have been alright if only I had known about and practiced proper (and I mean proper) gum and health hygiene. Call it hindsight. Ironically, at this stage in my life I frantically take care of the few teeth I can still call my own. I brush my teeth (and gums) as soon as I get up in the morning and after every meal. I use mouthwash regularly. I go for biannual dental checkups. I make it a point to get to a dentist as soon as I suspect the slightest dental problem. In our day and age anything can happen. My next statement may sound a little bizarre - like something out of science fiction - but so did reaching the moon fifty years ago. I visualize people in this lifetime cutting a third set of teeth. Wouldnt that be something! So lets not waste time. Lets brush up on gum and mouth hygiene practices. Lets promote dental hygiene whether through annual dental hygiene week for kids or dental hygiene shirts or whatever. And dont forget folks keep smiling! Our experts have executed a research to find the best dental plan. Find the results on Big discount dental plans .
