The First Critical DIET Question You MUST Have Answered

By Joel Brame Let me read your mind: You want to go on a diet, and you want to find some way to ensure results. Youre probably tired of bouncing around from idea to idea, and wish you could find something you KNOW will work. Most people go on a diet to slim down and LOSE WEIGHT. Some, however, are trying to gain muscle mass, or prevent an illness like heart disease, or perhaps fitness train for a competition event. Regardless of your reasons for dieting, you have an end goal in mind that youd like to manifest in your life. My guess is that youve had some difficulty in getting results. Your past efforts have not felt satisfying for you, or have not helped you achieve your end goal. If so, its likely that you havent been asking the first of 3 critical diet questions that can make or break success. If youve struggled with weight loss in the past, youre probably already familiar with several popular diets. And there are plenty to choose from: South Beach Diet, You On A Diet, Abs Diet, and countless more. Some people have read a dozen diet books; when you talk to them, they have an incredible wealth of knowledge at their disposal. What DONT they have? Results. When people try new diets and weight loss products year after year, they go into every new diet looking for some special new approach that will finally bring them results. They want new INFORMATION. Yet if you ask that person how long they lasted on their previous diet, the honest answer will likely be: Oh, a few weeks or months. After a short time, they quit the diet and felt excitedly liberated about eating their typical foods again. In this case, was this a problem with the diet itself, or difficulty in maintaining the necessary changes that come with the diet? Were they simply in need of more Inspiration, rather than a new set of Information? If you want lasting results, heres the FIRST critical question you must answer: Did your previous diets fail due to lack of Information, or lack of Inspiration? Information is knowledge. It comes in the form of recipes, acceptable food lists, descriptions of weight loss hormones, exercise tips, etc. You dont have to be a genius to succeed at a diet. However, if youve never learned anything about the foods you eat, and their impact on your body, then you do need more information. Books such as You On A Diet have a strong educational component, and are highly recommended. Inspiration is different. It involves a source of power and motivation that comes from within YOU. Inspiration gives you the ability to:
- handle food cravings gracefully
- stick to the diet when the going gets rough
- cope whenever life stresses make you want to quit
- make good decisions when your friends and family tempt you with food. Inspiration is within YOU right now: Every single person on the planet was born with a lifelong ability to tap into Inspiration. Lack of Inspiration, not Information, is the most common underlying problem when diets fail to bring lasting results. You cannot get Inspiration from a book (it comes only from within you). Instead, books can give you TOOLS to create Inspiration within yourself on a daily basis. One more critical distinction you must know: Inspiration is different from motivation. Motivation involves ambition to get something done. Motivation typically comes AFTER we see progress with the diet. But what if no progress is seen? Will you quit? This is where Inspiration makes or breaks your ultimate success. Lasting results with your diet must begin from the Inside, not the outside. Why did your previous diet(s) fail? If lack of Inspiration was the final issue, then you can take action to learn Tools of Inspiration, rather than another set of food recipes. Tools of Inspiration are readily available in books from authors such as Wayne Dyer, Byron Katie, and Thich Nhat Hanh. Buy AND read as many as you can -- otherwise these self-help books only become shelf-help books! Take your previous knowledge, combine it with your new Tools of Inspiration, and watch your life and your weight transform right before your eyes.
